Gingham Style!

As a visual merchandiser I come in contact with a lot of the latest trends and how to style them. The one trend I’ve totally embraced this spring/summer is Gingham! We have so many great pieces at Old Navy and I started to realize I was slowly filling my closet up with all of them. From a perfect summer dress to a cool ruffled top, Gingham has definitely been infused in to my wardrobe. One piece I’m particularly obsessed with is a pair of black and white gingham pixie pants. When they came off the truck I fell in love and when I went to purchase them I was asked by one of my employees, “What on earth was I ever going to wear with them?” I believe they may have used the term, “old” as well. I saw this little transaction as a challenge more than an insult. How can I make a piece fresh and fashion forward when others see it as retirement wear?  Today on the blog I’m taking on the challenge of styling one of my favorite pairs of pants for spring three ways. I hope my looks inspire you to not knock it until you try it!

Everyday Casual
If you follow my “one piece, three ways” blogs I’m sure you have noticed I love creating a lot of looks with a chambray top. I love this versatile piece because it dresses up a look without having to try so hard and it pairs perfectly with the gingham. Add a pop of color for footwear and you have an easy Everyday Look, perfect for whatever your daytime plans may be!

Fun Workwear
You all know I love a good graphic tee, especially when I can dress it up for an easy business casual look. Probably the easiest way to wear these pants but, I like to style the unexpected to give my look some character!

Girls Night Out
A little lace and leather to bring this gingham pant from work to play. This is my favorite look I styled for this blog. The gingham makes it appropriate for the season even though its all black and the touch of lace and leather give it a sexy twist, perfect for cocktails with the ladies!

I hope you enjoyed my styling inspo in today’s blog. I love styling the unexpected piece some may turn their backs on. There is always great styling potential for every piece, except Crocs, that is where I draw the line. But hey if you disagree I’d love to see how you would take the unexpected and make it amazing!
