The New Year is right around the corner and I, like many, find myself preparing for a New Years Eve bash. But let's be real, now that I’m older, and have a kid, my NYE has toned down quite a bit. That's not to say I don’t like to get a little fancy to ring in the new year. On today's blog I wanted to share my functional yet fancy NYE look to hopefully inspire you. If you are a new mama like me and you are looking for something more functional there is always room to dress up and feel your best!
If you follow my blog and my Instagram I’m sure you’ve noticed I’m a big fan of pairing a midi skirt with a simple graphic tee! The skirt length is perfect for bending and crawling around with my little guy but also fancy enough for a NYE Party. As for the tee, I love a fun graphic and nothing says comfort like a basic cotton tee. Instead of tucking it in I like to style it by knotting it in the front, with my waistline expanding quite a bit since having JR I’ve found this is an easy way to style a tee for a more slimmer look, which is always a plus! The leather jacket is perfect addition to stay warm during winter in the CLE and of course I had to add a fun bag. I found this colorful tweed at one of my favorite local boutiques, Banyan Tree.
If a skirt isn’t your style and you wanted a comfortable dress look, there are so many comfortable jersey dresses I love and are so easy to dress up with a great statement necklace or cute blazer. This look is also a functional and fun look. Below I’ve shared some of my favorites!
The other great part about my NYE look is using items I already have in my closet. I love being able to remix items I already have, especially for an event like New Years. I don’t know about you, but I swear the week between Christmas and New Years is always a blur and since it’s my first year with JR it’s even more so. I have zero time to go out and shop for a new look, so styling items I already have makes it easy.
I’m so excited to ring in the New year with our new little addition. 2018 was an amazing year that started with JR joining our family and has only become better as he learns and grows into the most adorable boy ever! I can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store for our family and I’m excited for the journey ahead. I hope your new year is filled with love and joy and of course great fashion!
