As you all know I am a fashionista who has lived in Cleveland all her life and just recently with my blog I’ve begun to highlight the local fashion scene, hence my inspiration for my December blog. I’m always searching out new and inspiring people. People who are are all about keeping their business and services local, this is how I came across Kira Heeley, the owner of CLE Threads. I found her on Instagram and I am ecstatic to share this company with you.
Kira started CLE Threads in 2014. She always had a "passion for fashion" but grew up sale and thrift shopping. She started to casually Instagram her outfit photos, eventually using the hashtag "ootd” (outfit of the day), etc. She soon realized her friends and followers enjoyed her style, thriftiness, and trends. This inspired Kira to officially start CLE Threads in December of 2014. She started a free Wordpress website, and immediately scooped up her name and URL. With help from a friend in graphic designer she created her logo designs and branding, and boom. CLE Threads is "Trendy, Edgy, Thrifty Fashion." Kira wanted to show the world great, fun fashion doesn't have to be complicated or expensive.
In addition to blogging, Kira also started a little resale shop on Instagram. She posts her resale items, and anyone who leaves their PayPal email address in the comments is sent an invoice. It's as simple as that! She can also be found on Poshmark, a popular mobile app for clothing resale. Kira gives her stamp of approval on every retail item stating “I don't re-sell anything I wouldn't wear myself! It's all very carefully curated.”
In June, 2015, Kira was featured in the Plain Dealer's Fashion Flash section, which was a super-fun experience and important towards growing my Cleveland/ online presence.
After a couple of years of mostly consistent blogging and a few hundred in sales from the refashioned items, Kira decided she could make this a viable Cleveland business. She registered as an LLC, and started buying wholesale products. In addition, she recently launched her very first custom designed-line, all produced locally! It is the Pop Fusion Collection, an homage to legendary pop icons in the music industry. The designs include the "Prince David" in two styles [RIP Prince & Bowie!], the "Hollaback Madonna" [an homage to trend-setting females Madonna & Gwen Stefani] and the "Never Break Me" Michael Jackson top taken from his lyrics. These designs don't hold back with style or color. The cuts are SO cute and the shiny, innovative designs are amazing.
The Pop Fusion Collection is on my gift giving list, it’s a fun and colorful collection that I fell in love with when I first saw it. I love mixing fun graphic tee’s with skirts in the summer and my leggings and skinny denim in the winter. This is why this collection is perfect for your sister or friend on your holiday list.
Find Kira’s Collection and other goods on www.clethreads.com and be sure to follow her on Instagram @clethreads and show your support for this up and comming retailor!
